However sometimes we are forced to wait the most important thing in our life…it’s the realization of our dreams and visions, or salvation of our loved ones, breakthrough in our finances, etc. We have to wait for the breakthrough that we have been praying for so long. Sometimes it takes so long, that we already forget that once upon a time we had dream and vision for our future. We do not realise that God has planned and intended extraordinary lives for each of us.
Is there any beauty in waiting?
Well, we do not know that we are in waiting mode if we already forget what our dreams were or we just entangled with our current problems. Maybe we just try our best to enjoy life as it evolves. No big expectation because we are afraid to be disappointed.
An ancient book of wisdom wrote ,”Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.” Is it safer to be hopeless than to be hopefull? When you have no hope, that’s the end of it. However when you are full of hope, there will be some of your hopes that will become reality.
Waiting for God’s promises is not a passive action. We can choose our attitude while we are in our waiting period. It’s different from a convict waiting to be sentenced by the judge.
If there should be one reason only we should believe in God and His promises, is because we love Him. When we love Him, He asked us to trust Him. It hurts God when we believe in our own assumption and others opinion more than we believe in His words.
The song lyrics of “While I’m waiting” by John Waller, from movie Fireproof has wonderfully express what we should do while we are waiting on God to move.
I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am hopeful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it is painful
But patiently, I will wait
I will move ahead, bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience
While I'm waiting
I will serve You While I'm waiting
I will worship While I'm waiting
I will not faint I'll be running the race
Even while I wait I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am peaceful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it's not easy
But faithfully, I will wait Yes, I will wait
I will serve you while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting on You, Lord
There are a lot of things to do while we are waiting
Keep our faith on God that He’s able to do what He says He would do
Keep running our race wholeheartedly – doing what we normally do with excellence
Keep our ears open to Holy Spirit guidance and obey whenever He prompts us to take the new opportunities
Keep serving, worshipping and thanking Him for His faithfulness
Jesus waited for 30 years before He started to minister. He never rushed it. He was patiently wait for Holy Spirit annointing before He began His ministry.
Probably the longest waiting that He had to experienced was the three hours He endured in the cross when He was separated from Father. It was the most painful experience for Jesus. He could withstand any deception, tortures, scorn but not being left by His beloved Father. You know, He did it anyway because of His love for us and He knew what awaits for us after His sacrifice. It’s Him and us never being separated again.
I don’t know how long you have been waiting for breakthrough in your life. The beauty of waiting is in the realisation that we do not go through this alone. We have the priviledge to being personally trained by God through our problems and our delicate situation. This waiting period is endurable when we keep our love to God and to ourselves as we are being shaped to be better person than before. We love Him because we know Him. We trust Him because we love Him.
There will be an end to every waiting period..to be followed by another waiting period. So, let’s learn to discover the beauty of waiting with God on our side.
II Tim 1:12
for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
